Our Carpet Cleaning Process

A closer look at how we clean carpets using inspection, pre-treatment, agitation where suitable and professional hot water extraction.

Professional carpet cleaning with the right process

A good carpet clean is not just about running a machine over the floor. The best results usually come from using the right process for the carpet, the level of soiling and the type of property. Our carpet cleaning process is designed to loosen dirt from the carpet pile, treat problem areas where suitable and extract as much loosened soil and residue as possible.

This page explains how our carpet cleaning service works. For the main local service page, visit Carpet Cleaning Birmingham.

Step 1: Carpet inspection

Before cleaning starts, we check the carpet condition, access, visible stains, high-traffic areas and any customer concerns. This helps us decide the most suitable cleaning approach and identify any areas that may need extra attention.

We also consider practical details such as room layout, parking, water access, furniture, drying conditions and whether the carpet is in a home, flat, rental property or commercial space.

Step 2: Pre-spray treatment

Where suitable, carpets are treated with a pre-spray solution before the main extraction clean. This helps loosen soil, oils, traffic lane dirt and general build-up from the carpet fibres.

Pre-treatment is especially useful on hallways, stairs, entrances, lounges and other areas that receive regular foot traffic.

Step 3: Agitation where suitable

For carpets that need it, we can use a Sebo carpet agitator to help work the pre-spray into the carpet pile. This helps break down soil before extraction and can improve the final result on high-use areas.

Agitation is not always needed on every carpet, but it can be helpful where there is visible soil build-up, traffic marking or heavier use.

Step 4: Hot water extraction

We use professional carpet cleaning equipment, including Prochem extraction equipment, to rinse and extract loosened soil from the carpet. This is commonly referred to as hot water extraction.

The aim is to leave the carpet cleaner, fresher and improved in appearance, while also giving practical drying advice once the clean is finished.

Stain and mark treatment

We can treat selected stains and marks where suitable, including common spills, traffic lane marks and areas affected by general use. Some stains can be improved or removed, but stain removal depends on the type of stain, the carpet fibre, how long the mark has been there and what has already been used on it.

We will always try to be realistic. Some marks are permanent or may only improve rather than fully disappear.

Deodorising and sanitising

For properties with pets, tenants, smoke smells, heavy use or odour concerns, we can discuss deodorising and sanitising options where suitable. This can help leave carpets feeling fresher after the main clean.

This can be particularly useful for rental properties, flats, end of tenancy cleans and homes where carpets have had heavy everyday use.
